Your nonprofit’s digital presence makes a huge difference in how well you’re able to engage supporters. This is where an effective nonprofit homepage becomes especially important; it’s not only the first landing page supporters see. It also solidifies their first impression of your organization and influences whether they’re interested in further exploring and supporting your cause.

Every nonprofit has a Board of Directors. Yet most people don’t understand exactly what the Board’s job is. And this is a problem. You see, it means that hundreds of people are sitting on nonprofit Boards and have NO IDEA what they said “yes” to. It’s surprising. And concerning. Unfortunately, there’s no “Board School” to send people to when they join a Board, so new members just do the best they can, following the lead of seasoned Board members.

It can be difficult to know how to support employees who are grieving or experiencing grief as the result of a loved one dying. Done insensitively and without forethought and training, managers and colleagues can come across as uncaring and even complicit in a conspiracy of silence that deprives people of the support that work can offer in times of mourning.

Fundraising can feel complicated and overwhelming. Many nonprofit organizations are swimming in fundraising ideas but are not sure where actually to begin. Should you research grants and apply for them or focus on producing an event? Should you do an email blast to supporters or put your energy into major donor-matching gifts? No organization or fundraiser has the capacity to do everything they want to do.

In fact, if you don’t plan on consistently engaging with your audience, it’s best to stay off social media altogether.
