Email marketing platform GetResponse has released some email marketing benchmarks data you might be interested in.

To get this data, GetResponse analyzed 5.5 billion messages out of almost 30 billion emails their customers sent between July 2019 – June 2020. They only looked at active senders with at least 1,000 contacts.

They have the data broken down by country and industry.

Across all demographics, they found this data:

  • Open Rate: 22.02%
  • Click-Through Rate: 2.13%
  • Click-to-Open Rate: 10.12%
  • Unsubscribe Rate: 0.12%
  • Spam Rate: 0.01%

For nonprofits specifically, they have:

  • Open Rate: 30.85%
  • Click-Through Rate: 3.60%
  • Click-to-Open Rate: 11.67%
  • Unsubscribe Rate: 0.10%
  • Spam Rate: 0.01%

Your metrics not that good? Don’t worry!

These rates seem a little higher than the M+R Benchmarks report shows:

While reports like these are important for spotting overall trends and establishing a jumping-off point for measuring metrics, your organization could be experiencing completely different results.

This is why we recommend you start your own benchmarks to better track trends and shifts in YOUR data.
