✍️ Partnership Notes

1. Great example of a company working with a creator to support a cause. Kentucky Fried ChickenπŸ— has partnered with TikTok creator and jewelry designer Isaiah Garza to develop a fund to give away half a million dollars in cash grants to nonprofits fighting hunger.

2. Worthwhile advice here. What is the #1 way you are generating leads for your partnership program. Got it? Good. Now double down on it.

3. This article from Wired Impact is on how to find donors online with search engine optimization. But the suggestions can be applied to partnerships as well. Great examples from Actions Against Hunger, Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness, and International Rescue Committee.

4. I'm looking forward to the Corporate Giving Conference on Thursday, March 10th. It's the only online conference for nonprofits that focuses on corporate philanthropy (grants), sponsorships, employee volunteerism, workplace giving and cause-related marketing, all in one space! *🀝 SPONSOR*

πŸ€‘ Marketing Your Cause

1. 8 counterintuitive marketing strategies that actually work. I found #1 especially intriguing: Make things more complicated.πŸ€”

2. Last month I shared an article on how businesses are using Cameo and asked: "How can nonprofits use Cameo to promote a campaign, upcoming event, or partnership? Have you used Cameo? I'd love to hear about it. Just hit reply."

Kris Lukkarila, Director of Operations at Camp Odayin in Minnesota, replied:

"Our non-profit did a Cameo from Kent Hrbek [Former first baseman for the Minnesota Twins] to promote a bobblehead auction we did as a small fundraiser. We did a cheaper version not knowing that we could not use the video to actually promote something. There are higher costs to get a video to promote a cause/event and we were not aware of that. I think sharing that there is β€œsmall print” to be aware of before investing in a video – make sure you are able to legally use it to promote something and note that it may cost a bit more than expected. We still used the video but did so quietly on our email and website rather than blasting on social media."

Good to know, Kris!
