✍️ Partnership Notes

1. Wow, MDA Shamrocks are 40 years old! I started my fundraising career at the Muscular Dystrophy Association in 1994 and remember spending February days packing up Shamrocks in the office and delivering them to businesses all across southeastern Massachusetts. Good times.

2. This is a cool program from Gold Start Chili. They are honoring 13 people that are making a difference in Cincinnati and donating eight percent of sales on National Chili Day to Freestore Foodbank.

3. Do you remember the Kia ad during Super Bowl LVI that featured Robo Dog? You can watch it here.

Well, for Web 3.0 fans, Robo Dog Adoption Pass NFTs were made available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Those with the pass will be granted early access to purchase one of the actual 10,000 Robo Dog NFTs for $20.22. Ninety percent of the profits will be donated to the Petfinder Foundation.

But here's the interesting part - and part of the allure of NFTs.

"An additional 10% royalty is built into the smart contract. This means that whenever the NFT is resold on a secondary market, the foundation will receive another donation."

Don't get it? Let me try to illustrate the benefit in another way.

Say that a company is selling a candle to benefit your cause. A shopper buys the candle and you get 100% of the proceeds. Yay! But if that shopper turns around and sells that candle to someone else you wouldn't get anything from the resale. But you would with a NFT because it lives on the blockchain and you can track its every movement, including resales, which could trigger another donation. (Note: A candle may not be the best illustration as NFTs are more like a stock, trading card, or other memorabilia that is more likely to be resold.😬 But I think you get the point!)

🤑 Marketing Your Cause

1. There's lots of evidence that fear appeals work. This article looks at how they work, and why they didn't for Covid-19. Fascinating!

2. Some good advice here on onboarding new "members" into your organization (whether they are actual members or new donors). I like #2. Don't dump a whole lot of info on new members. Instead, use drip marketing to deliver content they can immediately act on.

3. The success of Coinbase's Super Bowl ad confirms that QR codes are here to stay - and you should be using them in your marketing right now!

“By using a QR code as the way to interact [Brands are saying], ‘hey, we understand what trends are going on right now’ and it fits the brand ethos of being a challenger. They can also help legacy brands avoid looking ’out of touch’ and show consumers they are on the pulse.“

😎 Cool Jobs in Cause

1. Senior Manager, Corporate Partnership & Philanthropy, Goodwill Industries, Rockville, MD

2. Sponsorship Consultant, Levitt Pavilion, Los Angeles

3. Senior Corporate Development Manager, Trevor Project, Remote

4. Corporate Partnerships & Cause Marketing Manager, National Parks Conservation Association, Washington, DC ($65k - $70k)

5. Corporate Partnership & Special Event Manager, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Detroit ($50k - $60k)

🧠🍌 Brain Food

1. You should trash your annual report.

2. This start-up is asking donor-advised fund owners to speed up their giving. Donate at least ten percent of your account assets to charity each year, or else they'll do it for you.

3. This color has been called "the ugliest color in the world." I agree! 🤮
