The big news this week is that I'm at the Engage for Good Conference in Chicago Wednesday and Thursday. For cause marketing geeks like me #EFG2018 is like dying and going to heaven! It's that much fun!

Are you at the conference too? Or are you in Chicago (even for the day!)? I would love to meet you. I look like this guy --->>> That's me throwing down some wisdom at last year's conference. Super serious, right? 🙄You can meet me one of two ways.

1. Text me at 617-68-4JOEW. We'll find a place and time to meet and chat. If you are in Chicago but not at the conference it's easy to meet in the lobby of the JW Marriott Hotel. Really, I WOULD LOVE TO MEET YOU. This is what conferences are for, folks!

2. On Thursday at 1:45pm, I'm moderating the Halo Breakout - Digital/Social. Join me! This breakout for conference attendees will include OKCupid’s Jane Reynolds; Goodwill’s Amy Johnson; and WestJet’s Jennifer Badry. Or just swing by when it ends at 2:45pm. A networking break follows this session so let's network!

And, don't forget, you can follow along on conference happenings by following the hashtag #EFG2018 on Twitter. I'll be tweeting when I can, but I'd rather be meeting YOU!

New stuff from me 😊

🎙This week on CauseTalk Radio, Megan and I talk to CSR smarty Chris Jarvis, Partner, Realized Worth and Executive Director, RW Institute, about a recent episode of the Freakonomics podcast entitled Does Doing Good Give You License to be Bad. The show makes some pretty serious claims about CSR programs that we examine and debunk!

Partnership notes 📝

👸🏽Did you watch the royal wedding over the weekend? I read about a couple cause-related tie-ins. First, Sodastream sold recyclable miniature bottles embossed with commemorative royal hats that benefited Surfers Against Sewage. Second, PEZ Candy partnered with Make-A-Wish UK to auction royal PEZ Dispensers.

🦀The Monterey Bay Aquarium is teaming up with....Red Lobster??? 🤭Who's co-sponsoring, Land O'Lakes butter?

🍞Wonder Bread goes "Camo" to support The USO.

🛏BedTimes Magazine did an article on how the bedding industry participates in cause marketing efforts. It made me think of Mattress Mack's wonderful efforts after Hurricane Harvey!

🐕Love, love, love this program! Mars Petcare UK is rolling out PEDIGREE Dog Dates across the UK to fight loneliness in people over 65 by matching them with dog owners (and don't mind loaning them for a few hours every week!).

Marketing your cause 🤑

🌎Here's an organization that can teach you a few marketing lessons. National Geographic, the official magazine of the nonprofit NGS, was ranked the top social brand for the fourth year in a row. Covers like this explains why! (click image --->>

🏥Jay Baer at Convince & Convert is one of my favorite marketing gurus! His team has a new free report on the best social media from America's top 50 hospitals. It's not cause-specific, but lots of learning here for peeps in the hospital insdustry

⛑You should be more experiential with your marketing...Gun safety organization The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence created an art installation featuring a 'gun-sharing station' in Chicago to stir conversation about gun violence and gun laws.

😔Stop being so serious all the time! Take this playful spot from the Cerebral Palsy Foundation that allow people to giggle along while also reflecting on their own level of awareness.

Cool jobs in cause** 😎

2. Manager, Business Development, Product RED (NYC)

Brain food 🧠🍎

🥦Kale, not jail. I love how the nonprofit Planting Justice is making money in several big ways. They sell product and services and have recruited 2,000 or so “subscribers” who make monthly pledges, which brings in $450,000 annually!

🤡Just for fun: here's the word that was born the same year you were. It's only appropriate that "hissy fit" is the word for my DOB. My mother threw one when she found out she was having twins!
