Legal eagle Karen Wu just finished the third installment of her four-part series on the four key legal issues you - my readers! - requested guidance on in the Selfish Giving / Accelerist Partnership Law Survey you completed last year.

This time, Karen is answering your questions on contracts.

The four questions Karen answered are:

1. We are entering into a cause marketing promotion in which our charity will receive a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each Sellco widget. SellCo sent us a draft contract to sign. It seems to describe the promotion the way we discussed it. Should we go ahead and sign it?

2. What provisions should be included in our cause marketing agreement? [Answer includes 15-point checklist!]

3. Is there a way to streamline the preparation of cause marketing agreements so they are compliant with all 50 states’ laws as well as for online sales?

4. Our corporate partner wants to enter into a multi-year relationship that includes a significant financial commitment, and will involve numerous customer activations. Only the details for the first activation have been solidified. How do we draft an agreement to cover this type of arrangement?

1. I hadn't heard of Stew Leonard's before - and probably with good reason as there are just seven supermarkets in the tri-state area. Still, they are having a big impact. Each store has its own "wishing well" to collect donations for a new nonprofit each month. Also, proceeds from Stewie the Duck Animal Crackers support a nonprofit they founded to teach kids how to swim!

2. Companies are lining up to support this new cause.

3. Want to keep your partnership program growing while coronavirus is spreading? Target stay-at-home companies (Annnndddd any company that makes soap, masks or gloves 🎭).

4. From our friends at Rocket SocialThe power of social responsibility in sports. Five trends you should know. [SPONSORED LINK]

5. News from newsletter readers! Rachel Leber at Be Well Brands shared a new campaign she forged between Parkland and Wildlife SOS. Rachel is a licensing expertRuss Stoddard at Oliver Russell reported that his client Happy Day Brands will donate over two million meals in 2020. Good work!

🤑 Marketing Your Cause

1. Show your work, raise more money. Incredible footage from Britain's Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) drives donations on Facebook.

2. How Joe Biden's stutter gave this nonprofit the perfect messaging opportunity. Is your nonprofit ready to pounce on trending news? 🤔

3. Does your nonprofit use phygital marketing?
