🦠 Responding to COVID-19

Screenshot 2020-03-24 15.07.08.png

1. A frequently updated round-up on how brands are responding to the coronavirus (like McDonald's separating its arches! ⬆️).

2. This restaurant chain had a good idea to sell gift cards during the pandemic - with 100% sales being evenly distributed among their 4,500 employees, who have all been laid off. The owner is covering their health insurance through April. He explained the dire situation in this CNN interview

3. Journalist Judd Legum at the Popular Information newsletter has been focusing on corporate accountability during the coronavirus pandemic since March 9th. So far, Judd's written profiles on Darden, Kroger, Whole Foods, Publix, Spectrum and Amazon (which is bizarrely seeking public donations to pay workers' sick leave 🤯).

4. Yelp and GoFundMe have teamed up to add a "donate button" to business profiles on Yelp for locally-owned businesses with five or fewer locations.

5. Crafts chain Joann Stores is making all of its 800-plus stores available for up to 10 people at each location to sew masks and hospital gowns, offering sewing machines and supplies. Of course, machines will be 6-feet apart! The company also has special kits for customers who want to make masks at home.

🤑 Marketing Your Cause

1. The Cowboy Museum in Oklahoma is closed because of the virus so their head of security took over their Twitter handle. Now their Twitter following is blowing up! 💥🤠

2. According to Gmail, now is a great time to get rid of inactive subscribers on your email list(s).
