Happy Fourth of July! Because of the holiday I'm publishing an abbreviated newsletter this week.

I'll be back next week with a full newsletter. But as I'm in London the following week, you may see another abbreviated newsletter on Wednesday, July 18th. Try to be patient with me. ๐Ÿ™‚

Partnership notes ๐Ÿ“

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธThese are America's most patriotic brands. If patriotism is a strong theme for your organization, add the top companies to your prospect list.

๐ŸกFor the third consecutive year, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store returns with Operation Rocker in partnership with its flagship nonprofit partner Operation Homefront. Through Labor Day, Cracker Barrel will donate one rocker to Operation Homefront for every adult rocker purchased online up to this yearโ€™s goal of 1,500 rockers.

๐Ÿ‰Grocery Outlet Bargain Market has launched its Independence from Hunger Food Drive. Spanning from June 27 โ€“ July 31, 2018, the campaign collects food and cash donations in-store at Grocery Outletโ€™s 300 locations that will be distributed directly to local food agencies across the country. Grocery Outlet is aiming to raise $1M with this year's campaign. Check out how much they raised from 2011 to 2017.

๐Ÿ’ฐWeis Markets is supporting the Paralyzed Veterans of America and its Mission: Ableโ€™s Heart for the Brave campaign. Weis associates are asking customers to either round up their orders or purchase $1, $3 or $5 vouchers through July 11th. Last year, Weis raised $150,000.

Marketing your cause ๐Ÿค‘

๐ŸŽŒJuly 1, 2 & 3 marked the 155th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg and the American Battlefield Trust covered it like CNN. ABT covered the commemoration live on Facebook Live, an animated map explained the military campaign and for the time-starved they had The Battle of Gettysburg in Four Minutes. How are you covering your cause like a newsroom? ๐Ÿ˜

Brain food ๐Ÿง ๐ŸŽ

๐ŸคจOf course, on the Fourth of July we should read the Declaration of Independence. But we should balance our patriotism with a reminder of our unfinished work. Frederick Douglass' speech What to the Slave is 4th of July is as relevant today as it was when it was delivered in 1852.

๐ŸŒฒHenry David Thoreau moved into a house he built on Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts on July 4, 1845. His two-year experiment in self-sufficiency, minimalism and peaceful living produced Walden, one of the greatest books in literature. It's a comforting book to read during these difficult time (Or just peruse some of the famous quotes).

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโ€˜God Bless Americaโ€™: 100 years of an immigrantโ€™s anthem.
