Newsletter: Where Businesses Go First for Partnership Answers🥇; Book a Trip, Donate a Covid Shot 💉; Don’t Try to Raise Money on Social Media - Do This Instead 🤑

The link most clicked in my newsletter last week was an article on how to avoid email spam filters and reach your subscribers' inbox.

I'm glad you're thinking more about email because I really believe it's critical to your success with partnerships.

Now that you've avoided those dreadful spam filters, here are three things to do so your email gets opened. (Getting your emails read is another ball of wax.)

1. Make sure a real name appears in the 'From' field. It shouldn't be your nonprofit's name. It should be from an actual person. This is the first step in humanizing your emails and your organization.

2. Spend more than a hot minute on your subject line. A good subject line is everything, folks. It's part art, part science. I could write a whole book on subject lines. But let me just say this: Monthly Newsletter is not a good subject line.🙄

3. Start paying attention to your pre-header. The pre-header is the short line of text that follows your subject line and should reinforce it. The subject line + pre-header is a one-two punch that's read almost simultaneously by readers. You won't land a knockout email without both.

✍️ Partnership Notes

1. When you book a trip, this company will donate a Covid shot to someone abroad (who really wants one).

2. Save the Children is teaming up with T.J.Maxx, SC Johnson and Nickelodeon for a back to school campaign in a ten-city mobile tour.

3. When companies have questions about nonprofit partnerships, the first place they go is... (Check out the second bar graph). When they finally get to your site, you better have the right content (third bar graph).

🤑 Marketing Your Cause

1. How to manage content when you are the only person doing it. Some great suggestions here. This person manages a newsletter, a podcast, Twitter and Linkedin. Still sound like a lot? Do this. Become wicked awesome at one thing.

2. Are your development and comms teams always disagreeing? Here's how to ease tensions.

3. How to raise money on the audio-only social app Clubhouse. This is good advice for any social media site. Build awareness, interest and credibility on social, but drive traffic back to your site and get them on your email list.💥💥

4. Speaking of email, this nonprofit revived 500,000 emails on its list and raised $255,000. Remember. Social is good for awareness. 📣 But the 💰💰💰 comes through email.
