Nellie Mae Education Foundation
Gisele Shorter, director of national education strategy at the Raikes Foundation, will be the next president and CEO of this $510 million foundation that makes grants to strengthen racial equity in public education.
Shorter succeeds Jessica Spohn, director of grant making, and Michael Carey, vice president for finance and administration, who have served respectively as interim president and interim CEO since January when Gislaine Ngounou stepped down after four years at the helm. Spohn and Carey now plan to retire.
Academy of American Poets
Ricardo Alberto Maldonado will become the first Latino executive director and president of the academy on July 17.
Currently he is co-director of 92NY’s Unterberg Poetry Center.
TGR Foundation
Cynthia Court has been tapped as CEO of this nonprofit group created by the professional golfer Tiger Woods to help students from historically marginalized communities succeed in their education and careers.
Most recently, Court was chief development officer at Berry College.

Anthony Budrovich, president and CEO of the Catalina Island Conservancy, has been named executive director of the Los Angeles Parks Foundation. He succeeds Carolyn Ramsay, who has served as its leader since 2018.
Michael Chitwood, chief philanthropy officer at Opportunity International, has been appointed CEO of the Marillac St. Vincent Family Services. Michael Condron, who has served as interim CEO, will remain in his role as chairman of its Board of Trustees.
Cherie Collins Sims, chief strategy and innovation officer, has stepped up as interim president and CEO of Prosperity Now. She follows Gary Cunningham, who has departed after four years as CEO and 20 years working at the think tank to advance racial economic equity.
Ali Farhadi, a professor of artificial intelligence at the University of Washington’s Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering, will start as CEO of the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence on July 31.
Deeksha Gaur will become executive director of TDF, which was previously known as the Theatre Development Fund, on August 7. She is the co-founder and general manager of Show-Score, a website that aggregates theater reviews.
Jenny Ingber, director of the children and family learning program at the American Museum of Natural History, was named president and CEO of Chess in the Schools. She follows Debbie Eastburn, who is retiring after seven years as its leader.
Mark Lorey, vice president and partnership leader for global program strategy, quality, and evidence at World Vision International, has been hired as vice president of global programs and impact at RestoringVision. In addition, Aminah Yoba has been promoted from senior director of development to vice president of philanthropy.
Tony Moten Jr. has been promoted from director of education grant partnerships to executive director of the All Points North Foundation. He succeeds Laura Staich, who has led the $5 million family foundation for 12 years.
Sonya Shields, senior director of strategy and innovation at Cause Effective, has been promoted to executive director and president. She replaces Judy Levine, who is stepping down after 16 years as executive director.

Kim Bright, senior vice president and chief operating officer at the Campaign Legal Center, has been named vice president for finance and operations at Hopelab.
Elisa Harrigan, housing-opportunities program officer at Meyer Memorial Trust, has been appointed policy strategist at Funders for Housing and Opportunity. In addition, Christina Ostmeyer has joined the organization as narrative strategist. Most recently she was communications and development director at the Kansas Appleseed Center for Law and Justice.
Jesse O’Connell, senior vice president for education at the Center for American Progress, is joining the American Council on Education as chief advancement officer.
Courtney Rogers has been hired as director of education strategy and impact at the Moody Foundation. Previously she was executive director of the Educator Collective.
LaKeisha Thorpe, interim director of diversity, equity, and inclusion at the Baldwin School, has been named executive co-director for culture, planning, and green business development at Green America. She succeeds Fran Teplitz, who is retiring after 23 years at the conservation group.
Jaqueline Tucker will begin as vice president for community partnerships and strategy at the Meyer Foundation, effective August 1. She most recently served as the first chief race and social-equity officer for the City of Alexandria, Va.
Departures
Chad Coerver will step down as executive director of the Contemporary Jewish Museum in mid-August. He joined the museum in San Francisco in 2021.
Katie Hood has departed after nine years as CEO of the One Love Foundation, an organization that helps young people recognize the signs of relationship abuse.
