Brookings Institution
Cecilia Rouse will become the think tank’s next president in January. Currently a professor of economics and education at Princeton University, she recently served in the White House as the chair of the Council of Economic Advisers from 2021 until earlier this year.
Rouse will succeed Amy Liu, who has served as interim president since John Allen departed in July 2022.
Grantmakers for Education
Nicole Rodriguez Leach, interim executive director for the Center for Racial Justice in Education, has been hired as executive director.
She succeeds Ulcca Joshi Hansen, chief program officer, and Beverly Ross Denny, managing director, who have served as co-interim executive directors since Celine Coggins departed in December.
Lumina Foundation
Erin Archer, chief financial officer and vice president of finance and operations at Sarah Lawrence College, has been hired as chief financial officer.
The higher-education foundation has a $1.4 billion endowment.
New York Community Trust
Dominick Impemba has been tapped as chief operating and finance officer, where he will oversee its $3.2 billion in assets.
Most recently he was treasurer and chief financial officer at the Rockefeller Foundation.

Sangeeta Chowdhry, interim vice president at the Global Fund for Women, will join Common Counsel Foundation as executive director, beginning July 31.
Christina Daigneault, director of communications at the Coalition for Headache and Migraine Patients, will be the next executive director of F.Y. Eye, a nonprofit media organization that works with charities, civic leaders, and government agencies.
Wesley Gentle has been promoted to executive director and president of Arts Fort Worth. He has led the group on an interim basis since last fall, and previously was its director of advancement.
Angela Griffin, CEO of Launch in Seattle, will serve as the next CEO of Byrd Barr Place, an organization that provides services to Black residents of Seattle’s Central District neighborhood. She succeeds Andrea Caupain Sanderson, who is stepping down after 20 years at the helm.
Martin Miller, executive director and producer at TheatreSquared, has been named executive director of the McCarter Theatre Center.
Diego Oliva will be the first CEO of the Starknet Foundation, the nonprofit group created by the blockchain company Starknet. Most recently he was the co-founder and CEO of the start-up company Glue Home, and before that he was Facebook’s regional director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa until 2015.

Anusha Alikhan has been promoted from vice president of communications to chief communications officer at the Wikimedia Foundation. In addition, Courtney Bass Sherizen was hired as chief talent and culture officer. Previously she was director of people operations at Google.
Amy Bailey, director of marketing strategy at Children’s Hospital Colorado, is now chief marketing officer at the Morris Animal Foundation.
Shonali Burke has been promoted from chief marketing officer to chief marketing and strategy officer and vice president at the Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. In addition, Ryan Merkel has been promoted from director of development to chief development officer.
Sara Karerat has been promoted from director of applied research to managing director at the Center for Active Design.
Augustus Mays is now vice president for partnerships and engagement at the Education Trust. He was most recently director of policy and outreach at WestEd.
Courtney Radsch has joined the Open Markets Institute as director of its Center for Journalism and Liberty. Most recently she was a fellow at the University of California at Los Angeles’s Institute for Technology, Law, and Policy.
Timothy Ragland, the mayor of Talladega, Ala., will now also serve as national director of policy and governmental affairs at Youth Advocate Programs.
Chad Seveland, vice president of finance at Lone Star Circle of Care, has been appointed chief financial officer at Upbring, a nonprofit group to advance child well-being in Texas.
Traci Simonsen has been promoted from associate vice president of philanthropy to chief philanthropy officer at Jupiter Medical Center Foundation.
Jerry J.K. Tillery, division vice president at the American Red Cross, has been hired as chief impact officer at the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
Departures
Eileen Ellsworth will retire after 18 years as president and CEO of the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia. She will stay on until a successor has been named.
Jeffrey Poulos, CEO of Philanthropy Massachusetts since 2016, will depart this summer. He is joining the social-impact start-up company Impala as head of partnerships.
Felicia Swoope has departed after a year as executive director of Newark Arts. Lauren LeBeaux Craig, director of marketing and artistic initiatives, will step in as interim executive director until a permanent successor has been named.
Michael Witmore will step down in 2024 after 12 years as director of the Folger Shakespeare Library.
