Newsletter: 4 Things to Do When a Partnership Sours πŸ˜– ; Cole Slaw for a Cause πŸ“ ; Komen Shrinks the Pink πŸ’•; This Store Stocks Only Purpose-Driven Products πŸ˜‡

Last week I gave you five great costume ideas for Halloween. I also challenged you to share your own costume idea for cause marketers.

I got a bunch of suggestions and have declared two winners!

The first is Lindsay Ellis, Manager, Corporate Parnerships at Essilor Vision Foundation. This is the perfect costume for a cause marketer! It's a nod to the world famous Arctic Home campaign that Coca Cola launched with the World Wildlife Fund to save the polar bears.

The second is Amanda Ponzar, Chief Communications & Strategy Officer, Creating Healthier Communities. In homage to all the brand campaigns that encouraged Americans to vote this year, Amanda transformed herself into Captain VOTE America! She's a one-woman cause campaign!

Lindsay and Amanda will both receive Selfish Giving t-shirts! Sorry, Amanda. My Selfish Giving logo won't be as big as Captain America's shield on your shirt!

Thanks to everyone who participated!

✍️ Partnership Notes

1. Cole slaw for a cause.πŸ“

2. Not every partnership works out. The team at Stellar Partnerships has some advice for when things go south. (They would know. They're based in Australia 🦘).

3. Not all partnerships involve companies - but they can still raise millions! Congratulations to the PA Association of Student Councils and the Four Diamonds Fund!

4. The Chronicle of Philanthropy is out with a new report on Fundraising in Uncertain Times. The future of corporate giving is a concern for some charities:

"Over all, 44 of the 95 nonprofits that responded to a question about corporate giving trends said they saw more corporate gifts in the first half of 2020 than in the same period in 2019. Twenty-six nonprofits said the number of corporate donations had stayed steady compared with last year, and 25 said it had decreased."

1. The Girl Scouts congratulated the new Supreme Court Justice β€” it didn’t go well.

2. My new go-to source for celebrity breaking news is...Meals on Wheels? What a scoop!

3. How to get big results from small content marketing teams. And let's face it, every nonprofit marketing team is small.
