๐Ÿ’ฐ Join me and Accelerist CEO Brittany 'Brit-Bit' Hill ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ Tomorrow, May 12th @ 3pm EDT for the unveiling of the very latest research on giving at the register (aka Point-of-Sale fundraising).

๐ŸŒŽ Social issues & consumer preferences. Brittany will reveal the social issues consumers are giving to post-pandemic, which nonprofits consumers are gaga over - and how you can be one of them.

๐Ÿ”ข How to tackle POS step-by-step. Brittany will explain how your POS campaign strategy, setup, and implementation should evolve in 2022 and beyond!

Are you serious about cause marketing? If you are - and you should be! - you have to be serious about POS! Sign up now.๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ™Œ Yes, I want to Raise BIG MONEY with POS ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿ˜ฑ This news will shock some of you. I WILL NOT BE PUBLISHING A NEWSLETTER NEXT WEDNESDAY. ๐Ÿคฏ Crazy, right? I'm taking the week off - but I think I have a pretty good reason.

My oldest child, my daughter Cate, is graduating summa cum laude from George Washington University next week! ๐ŸŽ“ We are attending her graduation and spending a couple extra days in Washington D.C. This is our first family trip since the pandemic in March 2020.

Last night I was trying to remember the last time I DIDN'T publish my newsletter. I think it was in December 2019 when I visited my brother in Paris. Anyway, no worries. I'll be back in your inbox the following Wednesday.

๐Ÿ˜ญ Sadly, I WON'T be at the Engage for Good Conference next week. I'm disappointed because I've attended every year for some time. It's the #1 conference on my calendar every year.

I even asked my wife if I could skip out of D.C. for a day to attend at least one day of the conference...but I got the side eye. ๐Ÿ‘€ And you know what the side eye means! ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿคช

A family commitment is the only reason I would miss the EFG Conference! Fortunately, you still have time to register and to attend. If you interested in corporate partnerships, this is a can't-miss event!

I'll be back in your inbox on May 25th. Joe Waters out! ๐ŸŽค

โœ๏ธ Partnership Notes

1. I love this campaign from the UK! A charity partnered with garden centers to encourage safe sex for the over-65s. Check out these vegetable-themed condom packet designs, or 'Gardoms.' ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ†

2. Psychiatry platform Minded has launched a hashtag fundraiser called #ALittleHelpFromMyMeds, which encourages individuals to use the hashtag and share on social media on how mental health medication has improved the quality of their lives.

For every Instagram or Twitter post using the hashtag, the company will donate $10 (up to $10,000) to Sad Girls Club, a nonprofit whose mission is to diminish stigma around mental health and specifically support young women of color.

3. Conventional marketing wisdom holds that brands have to stand for something. "But the leaked Supreme Court decision that would eliminate a person's right to have an abortion may have blown up that orthodoxy. Brands aren't being brave at the moment. They're cowering in the corner."

However, some brands are taking a stand. Bumble, Ben & Jerryโ€™s, OkCupid and Yelp on why theyโ€™re defending Roe v Wade.

๐Ÿค‘ Marketing Your Cause

1. How to write reporter-friendly press releases. #3 is key: Write your release like a news story. I've done this and editors will โค๏ธ this!

2. This is a good suggestions for nonprofits too: Why more brands should get 'grief-smart' on Mother's Day, and every day.

3. Why your nonprofit should have an email signature marketing strategy.๐Ÿ“ฎ

๐Ÿ˜Ž Cool Jobs in Cause

1. Business Partnerships Manager, City Harvest, Brooklyn, NY/Hybrid

2. Corporate & Donor Engagement Officer, AbleLight, San Diego

3. Business Development Rep, Social Impact Manager, Percent Pledge, Remote

4. Corporate Partnerships Officer, UMOM New Day Centers, Phoenix ($80k - $85k)

5. Manager, Client Services & Team Operations, For Momentum, Atlanta/Remote ($65k - $80k)

6. Manager, Corporate Engagement, United Way of the National Capital Area, Washington DC-Baltimore Area/Hybrid

๐Ÿง ๐ŸŒ Brain Food

1. ESG vs. Purpose: What's the difference? Do you need both?

2. 5 indicators for identifying the best potential donors. This criteria works with partnerships too!

3. 7 bizarre rules McDonald's employees have to follow. What do you mean I can't take my Big Wheel through the drive-thru???
