File this under the bizarre - and also under something things I had no clue existed: People looking for their doppelgänger in museums.

What's a doppelgänger? I asked the same thing. Well, you should check out Wikipedia for the full description, which is fascinating, but it's essentially someone's twin stranger - an unrelated person that looks like them. There are actual sites out there that will help you find your doppelgänger.

Creepy, right?

Maybe I've never heard of or searched for my doppelgänger because I already have a real one, my identical twin brother, Jeff!

Still, if this gives people a reason to head to museums in search of their twin stranger I'm all for it. One side benefit of learning about the doppelgänger trend is I finally had to figure out what key I needed to press to add an accent over a letter!

A museum could have some fun with the doppelgänger craze as a fundraiser.

Museums could encourage fans of the institution to find their closest match in their collection and post a picture on Instagram. In exchange for a like, the poster would donate a dollar. They could set a maximum of $25, $50, $100 or more. Maybe they could even get a company match!

At the very least, learning about doppelgängers might be great opportunity to get to find out who your museum's major influencers are (which every nonprofit should know anyway).
