✍️ Partnership Notes

1. Do you have corporate contacts that aspire to speak out like Ben & Jerry’s does? Share this article  with them. It takes years and a big commitment. But it's well worth the time and effort.

2. 10 cause-related marketing campaign examples. I hadn't heard of a few of these!

3. Virtual events can be more valuable. "In a virtual format there are more ways to track the impressions that sponsors made on the audience."

🤑 Marketing Your Cause

1. Why supporters are unsubscribing from your marketing emails. ⬆️Bottom-line: send an interesting, useful email once a week and only to people that have signed up for it. The email should be 90% or more focused on the needs of your audience and only 10% or less focused on YOU. 💥And, yes, I try to take my own advice. 😉

2. The pandemic is making your writing worse. Here's how to turn it around.

3. Clickbait for good. Enough with the boring headlines! 🙄😴

😎 Cool Jobs in Cause

1. Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations, Boston Public Library Fund (Boston)

🧠🍌 Brain Food

1. This article argues that ‘social virtue marketing’ is less about responding to demand in the marketplace and more about a marketers' own need to signal their identity and values. The writer further argues - and presents evidence - that even with the pandemic, value, quality and reliability trump purpose. 😮Maybe Covid-19 hasn't changed everything?

2. Newsletter reader Philips McCarty of Good Scout turned me on to this great new documentary that's premiering tomorrow at 3pm EDT. It's called Fishing With Dynamite 🧨. It's the true story of how corporations and Wall Street - with their obsession with short term profits - are blowing up American capitalism, and the role we all play in putting it back together. You can watch the film for free when you use the code selfishgiving10. I'll see you there! 📽🍿

3. This week's gahhden photo is my favorite daylily, the "Ruby Spider". Friends, these flowers are nine-inches across! 🤩Yes, daylily flowers only bloom one day, but look at all the buds on each stalk! Plus, daylily plants are almost indestructible. A great plant for a sunny or part-sun location!
