Michael Theis, The Chronicle Adam Holofcener’s family foundation gave $1 million to revive the Baltimore Beat newspaper, which focuses on the city’s Black community and whose editor is Lisa Snowden-McCray. A Baltimore foundation gave nearly all of its $1 million in assets to resuscitate a nonprofit newspaper. Its goal: to counter the idea it's enough just to give to racial-equity organizations and instead put the money in the hands of a Black-led charity.
