ASPCA is a great example of a nonprofit that profits from product licensing agreements. Years ago when I was writing Cause Marketing for Dummies , Joanna and I had to write a short section on product licensing. I remember being hesitant to write about it because unlike just about every other topic in the book, neither of us had any experience with product licensing agreements.
By Dishan Jay. Good web design is a bit like clean air. You never really think of it, until the garbage truck passes you by and you realize how indispensable it is. It’s often dismissed until lack of it becomes a hazard. The same thing happens with nonprofits and design. It gets overlooked, downright ignored in favor of something basic just to “get things out there,” because often“there simply isn’t a budget for fancy stuff.”.
Leadership and productivity guy Michael Hyatt talks about planning your ideal week so that you can schedule your actual work weeks in a way that hopefully approximates what you want your life to look like. I’ve used daily themes — where you group similar work on a particular day — for a few years. But I’ve noticed recently that it just isn’t holding up for me like it used to.
“Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes” (“I fear the Greeks, even when they bear gifts”). — Virgil, Aeneid. Facebook has announced that it is eliminating its five percent transaction fee on donations to nonprofits (personal fundraisers still have a 6.9% + $.30 fee in the US). Date: Tuesday, February 13. Time: 1pm EST/10am PST. Presenter: Heather Mansfield. Over the last two decades the NGO sector has embraced technology, but economic and political factors and the quality of Internet infrastructure regionally often affects how well NGOs worldwide can use technology. Not surprisingly, there is a gap between the utilization of technology by NGOs in high-income nations and those in developing nations.
Nonprofits, like all other successful organizations, need to keep up with the tools of the times. It’s important that your board of directors understands the importance of new technology in letting your organization run like a well-oiled machine. Technology should be intuitive, affordable and able to grow with you, and your board should be willing to provide that for you.
Unsuccessful fundraisers don’t understand qualification. They don’t recognize its power. They wait for the next wealth screened list. They fiddle with it in Excel or in some other database. They make a few calls. They don’t get any appointments. They give up. Then they say the list was no good. Unsuccessful fundraisers don’t use the qualification process effectively.

For many nonprofit organizations and NGOs, managing grants and monitoring projects with spreadsheets and manual processes feels familiar—but is it holding your organization back? As funding requirements become more complex and stakeholder expectations for transparency grow, relying on outdated methods can lead to inefficiencies, missed opportunities, and compliance risks.
I confess. I spend far too much time transfixed by happenings on social media than I should. Whether it’s the ravings of the unstable @realDonaldTrump, or Facebook’s all-too-slow striptease toward the truth about its role in providing fertile ground for Russian election trolls there’s a lot going on that I find fascinating. But here at Agitator HQ we do turn off the TV, silence the hysterical cable news pundits and attempt to track what’s going on in the quieter parts of online and social medi

When it comes to legacy gifts, most fundraisers spend too much time focused on uncovering hidden gifts or closing more of them. Sure, it’s important to find out who planned a secret gift and to inspire donors to make them. But, believe it or not, closing these kinds of gifts is just the beginning of the fundraising process, not the end. That’s because most legacy gifts are irrevocable and many people change their plans near the end of their lives.
Here’s another little sneak peek at the data we’ll share in the full 2018 Nonprofit Communications Trends Report next week. We asked you what you wanted to do MORE of in 2018. . The big theme here is getting more organized and strategic, with planning and analytics. Video and storytelling are the two big content themes. Let’s look at the flip side.

Chances are your organization doesn’t have a fundraiser in charge of video game fundraising. Does this mean you may already be missing out on some pretty big bucks and an even bigger future? I ask the question only because of the remarkably meteoric rise of online recreational gaming and its fundraising potential. Each month 100 million folks watch their favorite personalities play video games on Twitch —an Amazon-owned online network that claim to reach half of the millennial males in the U.S.

Yesterday, we talked about transaction-fee-free donations through Facebook and how, all other things equal, you’d probably rather own the constituent relationship, thank you very much. But, I also mentioned it might be OK to drive donations through Facebook’s donate button while in Facebook’s organic reach. ( Organic reach is the total number of unique people who were shown your post through unpaid distribution.
Traditional budgeting and forecasting methods can no longer keep pace with today’s rapidly evolving business environment. Static budgets, rigid annual forecasts, and outdated financial models limit an organization’s ability to adapt to market shifts and economic uncertainty. To stay ahead, finance leaders must leverage a future-forward approach—one that leverages real-time data, predictive analytics, and continuous planning to drive smarter financial decisions.
For those who weren’t reading search engine marketing news over the holidays, instead spending “quality time” with “family” and “friends,” there was an earthquake for nonprofits who use Google Grants. I must preface this with the fact that Google is the only major advertising platform I know of with a program like Google Grants. Facebook won’t give you free advertising on its platform (perhaps the reason it’s now eliminating transaction fees – more on this later this week).
