Cyber Monday, Black Friday and online holiday ecommerce sales.… either you are ready or you’re not! Many business and marketing leaders miss out on tapping into the power of the online shopping holidays and events to increase sales, brand awareness and most importantly connect with their audience. Too many times they think it's just for the big online and offline retailers.
Did you see yesterday’s post showing that most nonprofit communicators think their workload is too heavy? Not a surprise, right? We’ve been hearing that for a while now, which is why we started developing short, intensive courses with step-by-step coaching. We call these courses Nonprofit Marketing Accelerators. And our next Accelerator will help you knock out a HUGE to-do on your list: Your Nonprofit Annual Report.
Based upon the survey results of 4,084 donors worldwide, the 2017 Global Trends in Giving Report is an annual research project that examines how donors prefer to give and engage with their favorite causes and charitable organizations. Sponsored by the Public Interest Registry and researched by Nonprofit Tech for Good, the report summarizes donor data across six continents about how online and mobile technology effects giving.

This session will walk you through how one CEO used generative AI, workflow automation, and sales personalization to transform an entire security company—then built the Zero to Strategy framework that other mid-market leaders are now using to unlock 3.5x ROI. As a business executive, you’ll learn how to assess AI opportunities in your business, drive adoption across teams, and overcome internal resource constraints—without hiring a single data scientist.
Yesterday I raised the question of why did it seem so difficult to get a second gift from a donor. Is it difficult? The stats from The Fundraising Effectiveness Project say the overall retention rate has declined every year since 2013 and looks likely to do so again in 2017. New donor retention is only 17.6%. So we seem to have trouble getting over 80% of first time donors to our nonprofits to make a second gift … to stick around.

Well, it’s getting to be that time of year again: the season where we sit down with everyone we care about and remind ourselves of what we’re truly grateful for. It sounds cliche, but it’s an important thing to acknowledge. Here at the Hub office, we have a tradition called “Hubsgiving,” where we gather with all of the nonprofits in our space to share both business and life updates, get to know each other and indulge in some great food.
You can get that answer personally delivered to you in the privacy of your own inbox without anyone else knowing. But first, your help is needed for a research project designed to look more deeply into how fundraisers make difficult decisions in their day-to-day work. As a Board member of the Hartsook Centre for Sustainable Philanthropy, I’m asking Agitator readers to participate in this project which is being conducted by one of the Centre’s PhD students.

For many nonprofit organizations and NGOs, managing grants and monitoring projects with spreadsheets and manual processes feels familiar—but is it holding your organization back? As funding requirements become more complex and stakeholder expectations for transparency grow, relying on outdated methods can lead to inefficiencies, missed opportunities, and compliance risks.

Today, Americans will celebrate Thanksgiving, a national holiday also observed in Canada (last month) as well as some of the Caribbean Islands and Liberia. For our readers in the UK, we’ll note that while Thanksgiving has no place in British tradition there seems to be a growing trend for let’s call it “Britsgiving”. Google reports that UK searches for ‘Thanksgiving’ have increased 60% over the past 5 years …supermarkets report rising November sales of turkeys, cranberry sauce and th
The Agitator has written quite a bit about the need to focus much more on donor retention and — as an essential step in that process — securing the vital second gift. Roger discussed winning second gifts quite extensively in two posts last week, giving away thousands of dollars of fundraising advice, here and here. But isn’t this an odd situation?
