We sought to create a gathering association for Black cooperatives in California and beyond. Interning at the Sustainable Economies Law Center in Oakland, I got a bird’s-eye view of the cooperative ecosystem and what cooperatives could do. I was inspired by the large-scale cooperative development that happened in Italy and Spain.
