We often talk about civil society and philanthropy as if they only do good. As I first wrote following the Citizens United decision in 2010, the scale and appeal of political money will be too much for charitable nonprofits to ignore. We need better mechanisms for tracking money through nonprofits and into political activities.

Digital civil society's dependencies come into stark view
